PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Construction of a metal frame commercial space for self-storage business with architecturally pleasing street elevations.
COMPLETED: 2007
RAINBOW SELF STORAGE
The question of what to do with an old movie theater site deemed unsuitable for almost all construction development was answered by Pacific Builders construction of over 100 self storage units for Ron Harris of Rainbow Self Storage.
Site development was extremely limited because there is no municipal sewer service to the site and the nearby wetlands and Humboldt Bay ruled out the possibility of on-site wastewater treatment. The movie theater operated throughout its’ existence with a holding tank, an option no longer acceptable to local government.
FEATURES
The Indianola site, located next to US Highway 101 between Arcata and Eureka is the fifth project Pacific Builders has built for Rainbow. Rainbow has long been acknowledged as a leader and an innovator in the self-storage business, working with Pacific Builders to introduce metal frame storage units and state of the art access controls to the local market that was once dominated by plywood clad structures with poor security.
The Indianola project, like all Rainbow projects features architecturally pleasing street elevations and landscaping that work to prevent the “warehouse” appearance so common in self-storage projects.
