As new property for development becomes harder and harder to find, more projects are built on infill lots, including the Chastain four-plex project, competed in late 2007 in downtown Eureka.
The narrow lot, squeezed between two older structures, with limited front setback and back alley egress presented a real challenge to get the utility infrastructure in place, to create the City of Eureka's required handicap accessibility, and provide private parking in back for tenants.
The lack of outside space is mitigated by the incorporation of generously sized balconies for each upstairs unit, with private patios for the lower units.
