The new Murrish Market, completed in 2007, replaces the 100 plus year old country store that had served generations of Hydesville and Carlotta residents, as well as drivers headed east to Ruth Lake and the mountainous State Route, Highway 36 .
The 10,000 square foot structure was designed by Whitchurch Engineering and Julian Berg, and was based on prefabricated buildings created by Garco Metal Buildings. The building includes retail space, a café/deli with dining area, 2000 square feet of storage, and a mezzanine for additional storage and office space. The large covered “porch” area in front of the store and the use of warm colors for the exterior and interior finishes maintain some of the old country store feel appropriate to the rural area. The interior floors are polished concrete, stained a rich, brown color.
